My Story
My Story & Why Children's Health Foundation
In early 2025, I went from couch potato to endurance athlete—and every step built toward this moment. I started with my first 5K, then conquered the Joe Duffy BMW Clontarf Half Marathon (July 5th), powered 10,000 daily steps for Irish Heart Foundation (Sept), walked 100 miles for Irish Hospice (Oct), finished the Irish Life Dublin Marathon Oct 25, and tested my limits with a brutal self-powered 175km/3-day walk from Mountmellick (Laois) to Sligo—36 hours moving across 5 counties, Halts in Strokestown and Carrowkeel.
Each milestone proved I could endure pain, push through fatigue, and keep promises to myself and supporters. See the full transformation in my LinkedIn Posts section.
Now—the ultimate challenge: Walking all 26 counties of Ireland (1,200–1,500km) in 30 days (Feb 14–Mar 15, 2026), no public transport (~50+km/day). Route map ready. Live Strava tracking. €50K+ target.
Why Children's Health Foundation?
I’m fundraising for Children’s Health Foundation, which supports the vital work of Children’s Health Ireland hospitals and urgent care centres, including Crumlin and Temple Street. The money raised will help fund life‑saving treatments, equipment, research and family support services for children living with cancer, heart conditions, rare diseases and other serious, chronic illnesses.
The truth is simple: my pain is temporary, but theirs often lasts for months or years. My sore feet will recover after 30 days; many of these children face endless hospital visits, invasive treatments and long nights of uncertainty. Their courage, and the strength of their families, is what inspires this challenge.
By supporting this fundraising page, you are not just backing an endurance walk – you are helping to provide better care, more comfort and real hope for children and families when they need it most. Every donation, big or small, moves us closer to the €50,000 goal and turns this 26‑county journey into something much bigger than one person on the road.
This isn't just my walk. It's our stand for their courage. Every €25 = vital meds for one day. €100 = specialist consult. Together, we turn steps into healing. Thank you for walking with me. #WalkThe26
